The Bats est un groupe pop-rock néo-zélandais actif dans les années 1980-90. Ils se forment en 1982 à Christchurch autour de Robert Scott (bassiste de The Clean) et de Paul Kean (ex membre de Toy Love). Ils s’arrêtent en 1988 pour reprendre en 1990. En 1993, ils ont accompagné Radiohead sur 14 dates aux Etats-Unis (avec Belly).

A cette époque là, le groupe est en plein doute, et ce n’est pas cette tournée avec Radiohead, qui vient d’exploser grâce à Creep, qui va les conforter :
