Pour les forts distorsions, Jonny utilise un Fender 85 depuis déjà assez longtemps, puisqu’il le possède depuis 1988 selon Plank, le technicien du groupe.

Une vidéo de 2004, qui permet de voir clairement les
instruments utilisés en 1994, où l’on aperçoit le tout premier Fender
85 :

Jusqu’en 1995, il a été utilisé pour tous types de son, mais suite au vol d’une partie de son matériel, Jonny en a profité pour acquérir d’autres amplis.

C’est donc depuis cette date l’ampli attitré du Shredmaster Marschall, il arrive aussi parfois qu’il soit utilisé pour le BOSS LS-2.

Jonny n’utilise par la reverb ou l’overdrive sur cet ampli, et il le règle avec un léger midsboost (treble 11, mids 1, bass 11).
Il règle le volume à un niveau assez faible, 9 ou 10.

Depuis sa première acquisition d’un AC30 vers 1995, Jonny en utilise très souvent, en sortie de toutes ses pédales d’effet pour un son net sauf le Shredmaster, et les techniciens son du groupe, dont Plank, ont beaucoup travaillé dessus pour lui faire acquérir un son proche de celui du son « Vox » qui a fait sa renommée depuis les années 60.

Une photo prise le 6 août 1995 sur laquelle on peut voir que Jonny a « customisé » son nouveau jouet…

Il est bien sûr remplacé de temps à autres, car il n’a pas supporté toutes les tournées.

On peut ainsi citer un ‘62 vintage AC30, un Dave Peterson special (probablement un ‘98, Tesla ECC83, EL84’s, Watford Valves).

Les Hauts Parleurs sont des Celestion Alnico Blue.

Le Vox actuel est un AC30 standard, re-issue AC306-TB avec des valves mesa boogie.
