Sortie à l’époque The Bends, c’est encore une chanson type ’des débuts’, avec des paroles qui évoquent un point de vécu sensible  et rien de remarquable niveau musical…

Le ’headmaster’ dont Thom parle ici serait le directeur du lycée qu’il fréquentait, et qu’il détestait farouchement. Thom à cette époque était déjà assez excentrique, ce qui n’était pas du goût du proviseur avec qui il eut parfois à découdre…

Dans le NME du 4 décembre 1993, interrogé sur les personnes qu’il apprécie et sur celles qu’il déteste, il a cité dans les seconds ce même directeur d’école,  Mickael St.Jone Parker.

Parker semblait affectionner les tenues qui rappelaient l’ordre ancien dans les collèges au XIX^e siècle, et en particulier les robes d’évêques.

Jonny à propos de la Abingdon School où tous les membres du groupe se sont rencontrés :

La chanson est enregistrée en studio durant la même session que « Lucky ». C’est Thom qui joue le solo le guitare.

En 1997, Ed se déclare très content du résultat de la session de 3 jours au studio Surrey Sound :

La chanson est jouée pour la première fois en live, à Cambridge, au Corn Exchange.

Cette B-side ne sera que très rarement jouée (20 fois environ), la dernière fois en 2000.
