Attention ! Black Swan est une chanson tirée de l’album « solo » de Thom Yorke intitulé The Eraser, et non une chanson de Radiohead à part entière.Durée : 4 minutes et 49 secondesQuatrième chanson de l’album The Eraser .Elle qui comporte un peu de guitare, et en cela peut rappeler les chansons de Radiohead. Cette chanson figure aussi sur la BO du film A Scanner Darkly de Richard Linklater.

« Sur And It Rained All Night figure un élément extrêmement fragmenté de The Gloaming, sûrement pas reconnaissable de toute façon. Black Swan intègre un petit segment tout aussi fragmenté provenant de mes archives d’échantillons. C’était Ed et Phil qui jouaient sur ce bout, que j’ai découpé en petits morceaux. L’échantillon date de 2000 et la chanson de 2005. »
Commentaires : Le cygne noir, de par sa rareté, s’est vu dédier un symbolisme complexe dans la littérature.
Emmanuel Kant, puis Derrida lui ont accordé, de par sa couleur noir, signe d’invisibilité, l’image de l’amitié fusionnelle, totale. Celle-ci n’étant pas visible à l’oeil nu.
Le libanais Nassim Taleb, philosophe des sciences, mathématicien et statisticien, applique la théorie du cygne noir aux grands événements de l’Histoire pour faire référence aux événements inattendus, statistiquement imprévisibles.
Enfin, le terme de cygne noir est aussi utilisé dans la presse pour faire référence à une personnalité rare et hors du commun.
Deux lignes étaient lisibles sur radiohead.com dès 2004 et laissent pressentir que la chanson était en gestation depuis un bon moment...

The song... ’this is fucked up’, that’s the line. I mean, you can’t change it.
