Une nouvelle chanson jouée lors de la tournée de l’été 2006, aux Etats Unis, plus précisément à Los Angeles, le 30 juin au Greek Theatre, pour la première fois, puis de temps à temps lors des tournées de la même année.
Elle a été jouée à Paris le 26 août 2006, au festival rock En Seine.
Finalement, c’est en octobre 2007 qu’on a appris que la chanson figurerait sur le nouvel album du groupe in rainbows.
En avril 2008, MTV a décidé de se servir de ’All I need", pour une campagne de sensibilisation contre le trafic humain et l’esclavage.
Le groupe a accepté de suite « It’s cool that MTV is taking this up, because normally, this is something I only get to talk to people about who are considered ’extreme left-wing’ or whatever, but it’s good it’s hitting the mainstream, because I don’t consider it a left-wing issue ; I consider it a political-stability issue, » / « I think if [the campaign] does one good thing, it would be to make this concept of slavery — which is what it is — less taboo. If they can make it something that is OK for us to talk about, and for politicians in the West to actually accept that this is an issue, well, then we’re doing a good thing. » et Radiohead s’est donc associé la campagne MTV Exit (End Exploitation and Trafficking).
Un clip vidéo a donc été produit par Steve Rogers et John Seal qui met en parallèle deux univers, comme le décrit mieux Thom :
« They’ve produced a video of two parallel stories running, one of a little boy in the West and one of a little boy in a sweatshop in the East, and the boy [in the West] ends up buying the shoes from the sweatshop. It’s actually quite powerful, » « It’s the sort of images I have in my head anyway. Sometimes when you’re walking down High Street and you’re looking at the incredibly cheap [sneakers], you sort of think, ’Hmmm, well how did they manage to make that so cheaply ?’ It sort of reminds me of one of my preoccupations, so I’m touched that the music goes with that. I think it’s great. »

le titre de la chanson est apparu sur une photo , postée le 30 septembre 2005 sur le blog du groupe, qui montrait un tableau avec une liste de chansons, probablement celles travaillées par le groupe dans une session de travail qui avait débuté le 19 septembre pour un futur album. On était alors en septembre 2005, et on avait jamais entendu parler de la chanson.
le 8 mars, le groupe remettait ça et postait une autre photo avec une liste de chansons, cette fois All I Need n’y est plus... mais on peut croire que 5ths, qui apparait alors pour la première fois, est un titre provisoire de cette dernière.
